Not a place for dogs
Majority of my business are walk-ins and when everyone comes in all at once including large parties with any business it slows the kitchen down. We never want those to wait a long time for their dinners to come out so when that happens, we have to hold the door for seating so my kitchen can get caught up. The size of my kitchen to the amount of tables I have is limited. Inside seating is for overflow and reservations only. When its a nice day, weekend and being one of the only restaurants here on Lake Norman to offer a great view, live entertainment and great food, you'll have a wait. We do our best, but never want to rush any guests. Thank you again and hope you will be patient.
Inside yes... Outside not sure if they will reserve but I would try
There is a private beach that is owned by Harbor Cove who has allowed my customers to tie up on the poles designated on the beach. Please be mindful of other boats/jet skis as space is limited.
Yes, we have Little Johnny Trailer Trash, 6-9
Yes I believe they do
Food is good friendly staff nice view of Lake Norman I go there often
Great food and great service! Highly recommend!
Food was good, but my mussels were overcooked and the clams were tiny. They totally forgot about my 4 year-old sons food. The Margaritas were good in flavor but could have used a bit more alcohol. I would go back to try something new. Oh yea and the fresh made guacamole was perfect.
Great Mexican Food served with a smile.. would definitely recommend outdoor seat for the lovely view of the lake. Will come again
Freshly prepared flavorful food great service
Food was tasty. Needs more signage from street to find it. Better atmosphere inside needed. Was with a group where the owner was going to average around $400 at least. When we asked for a couple of bowls with lemon & lime slices for our beverages/meal the owner asked who was going to pay for that. We have never received a response like that before wherever we have eaten. They are always happy to accommodate...hospitable which brings big tips and return trips to that restaurant. Owner is either cheap, rude or hurting for $$.
Had a nice lunch there today. Excellent food and great service! I've been here a few times and never had a problem. This is "upscale" Mexican cuisine so don't expect cheap. Tons of other standard Mexican restaurant for that. Nice views of the lake are an added bonus.
The food was absolutely delicious - some of the best Mexican I've ever had. But the service was atrocious. Things overall took 40 minutes longer than they should have. The porch was full when we arrived and we chose to sit inside, where there were no other customers at the time. This lead to being almost completely ignored. We had to ask repeatedly to be helped and to receive items that we had ordered. I'm leaving three stars because the folks in the kitchen obviously know what they are doing.
This is not your typical "authentic" tex mex joint that all have the same food and same menus. The food is fresh and well prepared. It feels more like high end dining but the location itself is low key. The freshly made guacamole is amazing. Our server was fantastic and made great recommendations. It's right on the lake and the weather was good. It was a great evening. The prices are good for the style of food they are serving. If you're looking for something different in Mexican cuisine this is the place.
Not you're run of the mill Mexican Restaurant. This is fine tuned, bouge Mexican food. Everything strategically placed on your plate for presentation. So, in turn, not huge portions. The burrito, though, is pretty massive. Excellent flavors along with excellent service. The traditional margarita is right on time! Well priced for the food, service and ambiance! The chocolate cake and the coconut flan are both worth the money and calories!
The food and presentation was very good. Outdoor seating is preferred if the temperature allows.
The food and service is amazing. They also make their desert extremely difficult to resist not only because it's so delicious, but also because when they ask you if you would like dessert, they are standing there with freshly prepared plates of the different options for you to select from. To say the least, it's hard to say no to that!
The food is usually pretty good and consistent but a few years ago I feel like it was much better. I wish this place was busier because it always feels a little awkward when it's only one or two other tables in the entire restaurant but we may just always be going on off times. The enchiladas are fantastic, and the outside patio seating is great! The staff is always friendly and remembers our family, we have been going there for years.
Beautiful place and excellent food.
This was my first time eating here since moving out of state 15 years ago and it was just as good as I remembered. The fajitas were delicious and I love the new location on the lake.
The food took forever to be served to us. My drink took forever to get to me. The couple next to us waited a long time for their food too. The service could have been better considering their HIGH prices. They did not serve any chips & salsa unless you pay for it. Considering their HIGH prices you would think they could accomodate their customer with free chips n salsa like all the other mexican restuarants around. This place sucked! We will not be back. We'd rather eat at eddie's on the lake next door. Cheaper prices and better service.
Outstanding meal, have been here over 5 times in the last three months and every entree has been exceptional. I would describe it as high end Latin fare. Try it you will go back.
I love their food every time I go there. This time I got the special which were giant (bigger than jumbo, anyway) shrimp prepared well, but like a lobster tail, with the shell and legs on. They are tougher to remove than lobster, too. Anyway, nice presentation but a pain in the butt to eat.
Great high end Mexican food. Sangria is wonderful.
Mexican restaurant with special (healthy) dishes which taste very good! Not the usual Mexican food. Nice porch with a good view on the lake. Very nice for a dinner.
Great dish presentation and a great lakeside spot to get some margs.
Delicious food. Quite impressed!
Some of the best quality food, drinks, and service in Mooresville. Amazing there were so many empty tables.
Food was tasty but rather expensive. The restaurant itself was rather hard to find the night we went. It is located on the bottom floor of condos. The food did arrive very quickly. Was a little dark inside for my taste but others might find it romantic.
Good food and drinks food come in time. And everything is so delicious and good service everyone friendly
As always, we had a great time with fantastic food and awesome service.
Absolutely loved the place. Food was excellent and the waiting staff very pleasant.
Great service beautiful, lake front, amazing food and drinks
Great Mexican with authenticity. Great food with great service.
We were looking for a new Mexican restaurant to try and decided to check out The Prickly Pear. We received a very pleasant greeting and our waiter (Marcos) was extremely friendly and attentive. Our drinks and meals were certainly a step above the typical fare from most Mexican places and the 6 layer chocolate cake dessert was another highlight!A little more expensive, but well worth it!
My family and I had a wonderful dinner her tonight. Amazing food and service
Great food! loved the hamburger!
The food preparation was very good. This is definately not just another tex-mex restaurant. The plates were artfully presented. The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant and quiet. The views of the lake are superb. Service on this visit was not up to expectations, but we will certainly give the Prickly Pear another shot, perhaps for dinner rather than lunch.
The food was great and the service was really good. They say it is a modern Mexican restaurant and did not know what to expect but the menu has a good variety of straks, seafood and traditional plates all with a Mexican twist and flavors. Was able to sit outside on the patio and really enjoyed the vew. Great experience over all.
I didn't like whatever they fried the cod fish in. Not sure anyone in my group was head over heels for the food. Atmosphere was decent. It also took awhile to get food.
Servers and staff were nice, food was terrible. Don't put fajitas on the menu if you don't know how to make fajitas. Bad quality overall
Love the food, a bit pricey but decent atmosphere
I chose this restaurant as the location for my second wedding anniversary dinner because of the name. I know it sounds silly but one of the pet names I have for my husband is Prickly Pear. When I read the menu and background of the restaurant I was so happy to hear that the food was upscale Mexican cuisine because, as a chef myself, I love quality, authentic food. I was blown away by the view. Stunning. The food had tons of flavor without being too overpowering. I personally like a bit more spice but I understand having to tone dishes down for the general public. My husband and I ordered the Queso Fundido with the Guajillo Mushrooms (next time I'm going to add both the mushrooms AND the rajas!), Maduros, Visrey, Filete de Hierro and a Grilled Pineapple Margarita. I highly recommend all of those. Everything was last meal worthy. Fantastic job you all!
The food was amazing. Service was great. Best Mexican Cuisine.
Wow I was amazed at the quality and freshness! It's a must try!
Love sitting outside & love the street tacos!
Nice little spot.. Fabulous lake views.. Food food family friendly!
Really enjoyed the food here. Atmosphere really nice. There was live music and wasn't crowded. We were able to get a seat quick and server took our order quickly. Server was polite and accommodating since I didn't eat meat, but he didn't go missing for long stretches. He kept going to the back and didn't look like he had a lot of other tables. The appetizer Tamal De Elote was really good. Kind of tasted like sweet corn bread in a Tamale. I had the Enchiladas Suizas and it was really good. I got it without chicken and it was fill of veggies. The Jalapeno Crema was tasty. The family got the Mary y Tierra and the Tejanas Fajitas. They said both were really good, but the fajitas need some sort of sauce to break up the dryness. My wife got the Diablo sauce and was happy. Overall the food was good, but it's price. The Mary y Tierra was $24 alone.
The food quality and presentation of Prickly Pear is not as good as it used to be. We used to go there all the time, not anymore.
We go often- quality of food is beyond what you would expect at Mexican restaurant. Just wonderful- probably been 50 times and never a bad experience. Good consistently outstanding and tried at least half the menu. Owner is super nice and running around himself to make sure all is well. Staff is excellent.
Fabulous atmosphere, food and service! Highly recommend!
My first experience at Prickly Pear and it wasn't great. We had reservations for 6 people at 6pm. My boyfriend and I were the first to arrive. It was not busy when we arrived. Our waitress poured some water for us and then completely disappeared until the rest of our party showed up, about 15-20 minutes later. We were hoping to order margaritas to sip while we waited. Another server noticed and came up to us and offered to get us drinks. He kindly brought us the drinks that we had been waiting to order. The food took forever to come out, and I could tell it had been sitting in the window for a while. My black beans were congealed together on my plate and my enchiladas were barely warm. For the high prices, I was hoping for better service/quality.
Great atmosphere for reasonable fine dining!
Coworkers and I eat here for lunch every so often - and it's always been good. Been here many times over the years. I wouldn't necessarily say it's an "upscale" or formal restaurant but definitely a step nicer than a lot of quick in-and-out Mexican places. Nice view of the lake, including some outdoor seating.Service has typically been good for us even if we're in a bit of a time crunch with a fixed lunch hour. Really good food, I particularly like the fajitas and the alambres. Reasonably priced as well.
Delishous food. Best guacamole and the paella was excellent. Love the corn soup too.
